India To Conduct Trials Of Shoulder-Fired Air Defence Missiles

The government entity DRDO will conduct trials of indigenous shoulder-fired air defense missiles, before supplying them to the Indian army for user trial.

In order to fulfill the requirements of Indian Army and Air Force and to deal with aerial targets such as fast-moving drones, fighter jets, and helicopters in border regions, DRDO is manufacturing Very Short-Range Air Defence missiles.

Moreover, it is also going to conduct high-altitude tests of the indigenous tripod-fired short-range air defense missile in mountainous areas such as Ladakh or Sikkim, revealed defence officials to ANI.

Later, after its successful tests, the missile system will be given to army for user trials and tests.

Furthermore, the defence officials also declared, that issues associated with short-range targeting has been cleared, and the system is making steady progress.

Meanwhile, in order to plug in the shortage of shoulder-fired missiles to deal with China & Pakistan threats, the Indian army is currently making a progress with two cases for the development of very short-range air defence, which is worth Rs 6,800 crore.

Currently, the existing VSHORAD missiles possessed by Indian army and air force contain lR homing guidance systems.
