India’s air defence establishments intercepted over 600 drones deployed by Pakistan overnight on May 8, from over 30 locations across several cities, official sources said.
The intercepts, carried out within a period of 48 hours, foiled two simultaneous waves of drones and missiles that were targeting strategic military areas in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan.
Urban centers in the Punjab and Rajasthan states both of which have long borders with Pakistan were put under high alert, as were zones in the Jammu and Kashmir state. Air raid sirens wailed throughout the night, and a complete blackout was enforced in border cities to avoid visibility during the possibility of threat.
