In a bold and unprecedented move, India launched Operation Sindoor, striking deep into Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) to destroy terror infrastructure responsible for repeated attacks on Indian soil. Government sources confirmed that the strikes targeted the “head of the snake”—high-ranking terrorists and key command centers—instead of merely eliminating foot soldiers.
Strikes Across Pakistan and PoK
Operation Sindoor was launched in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack on May 7, which killed 26 civilians, including tourists in Jammu and Kashmir. In response, the Indian Armed Forces executed coordinated precision missile strikes on nine terror facilities—four inside Pakistan (including Bahawalpur and Muridke) and five within PoK (notably Muzaffarabad and Kotli).
“These facilities were key command centers for Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)—groups behind major attacks like Pulwama (2019) and Mumbai (2008),” a source said.
“Ghar Me Ghus Ke Marenge”
A source highlighted India’s doctrinal shift: “The message that has been sent is that no matter where you are in Pakistan, we will hit you. On this occasion, we have gone after the head of the snake and not foot soldiers.”
The strikes reportedly came after Pakistan attempted drone attacks on Indian cities in Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab during the nights of May 8 and 9. In response, the Indian Army unleashed a coordinated fire assault, with visuals shared by the official ADG PI account of the Indian Army.
Another source added, “It showed our approach of ‘ghar me ghus ke marenge (we will kill them inside their home).”
A New Deterrence Doctrine
Sources emphasized that the response reflected India’s doctrinal evolution toward calibrated deterrence. The goal was not just retribution but to set a new strategic red line.
“We have called their nuclear deterrence bluff. We take the nuclear threat seriously, but it cannot serve as cover for Pakistan to come and do terrorism in our country,” the source said. “The new normal is that the Line of Control will not protect you; the international border will not protect you; the nuclear threat will not protect you.”
Impact and Message to the World
According to government insiders, several high-value terrorists on India’s most wanted list were eliminated in the strikes. Entire terror modules and leadership structures were reportedly dismantled in a single night.
“India showed the world that it will not wait for permission to defend its people. Terror will be punished anytime, anywhere. It also showed that terrorists and their masterminds have no place to hide,” the source concluded.
