India has destroyed a Pakistani F-16 fighter aircraft after a significant air incursion bid over Jammu, a sudden heightening of cross-border tensions. The aircraft, which was based at Pakistan’s Sargodha airbase, was shot down after it tried to attack Jammu Airport.
Earlier, Pakistan had initiated a salvo of missile and drone attacks against military and civilian targets in Jammu, RS Pura, and Channi Himmat. India’s cutting-edge air defence systems such as the S-400 and Akash intercepted and neutralized a minimum of eight incoming threats.
In another incident, Pakistani drones were also spotted in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer and successfully destroyed.
There has been a consequently increased security measure across border states such as Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan with Indian troops deployed in a condition of high alert. Total blackouts have been imposed on multiple districts such as Jammu, RS Pura, Amritsar, Poonch, and Jaisalmer to deny further threats while guaranteeing civil safety. All is still quite tense and close to monitoring.
