India Reveals Names of Pakistani Officials at Terrorist’s Funeral

India has released the names of several top Pakistani officials who attended the funeral of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Abdul Rauf. He was killed in India’s recent counter-terror operation, codenamed Operation Sindoor. According to India’s Ministry of Defence, the funeral was held in Muridke, Pakistan. Rauf had been designated a Specially Designated Global Terrorist by the U.S. Treasury.

High-Ranking Pakistani Officials Seen at Ceremony

The funeral was attended by several senior Pakistani officials, including Lieutenant General Fayyaz Hussain, Major General Rao Imran, Brigadier Mohd Furqan (from the administration wing), Punjab Police Inspector General Usman Anwar, Punjab legislator Malik Sohaib Ahmed, among others. These leaders were seen offering prayers for the slain terrorist, indicating the level of state support being provided to individuals involved in cross-border terrorism.

Operation Sindoor: Key Terror Camps Targeted

India’s Operation Sindoor was launched in response to Pakistani drone attacks and targeted a total of nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The targeted camps in PoJK were Sawal Nala, Syedna Bilal, Gulpur, Barnala, and Abbas. Meanwhile, in Pakistan, the strikes hit Bahawalpur, Muridke, Sarjal, and Mehmoona Joya.

21 Terror Camps Identified in Pakistan and PoJK

The Ministry of Defence also revealed that India has identified 21 terror camps operating in Pakistan and PoJK. Some of the key locations include Maskar-e-Aqsa, Chelabandi, Dulai, Kotli, Barali, Sensa, Oghi, Balakot, Garhi Habibullah, and others. These camps reportedly serve as training hubs and operational bases for terrorists planning attacks against India.

Key Terrorists Eliminated in Precise Strikes

Several high-profile terrorists were neutralized in the operation. Among them was Khalid Abu Akasha, a trained LeT terrorist who smuggled arms from Afghanistan into Pakistan. He had operated in Jammu and Kashmir before returning to Pakistan and recently became part of the LeT Central Committee in Muridke. He worked closely with top LeT leaders like Yahya Mujahid, Qari Yakub Sheikh, and Engineer Haris Dar.

Another senior operative, Mudassir Khadian Khas, served as the in-charge of the Muridke terror camp and was security-in-charge for Hafiz Abdul Rauf, chairman of the Al Khidmat Committee. Khas is also the son-in-law of Hafiz Mohammad Saeed, the founder of LeT. He had strong links with PMML’s General Secretary Hafiz Khalid Waleed and LeT deputy chief Saifullah Khalid Kasuri.

Mohammad Hassan Khan, another key target, was the son of Mufti Asghar Khan Kashmiri, a top Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) commander. He was linked to the 2019 Pulwama attack and operated from the Syedna Bilal camp. He was also part of JeM’s planning team and maintained coordination with operatives in Islamabad and Shakargarh.

Additionally, Hafiz Muhammed Jameel, the brother-in-law of JeM chief Masood Azhar, was killed in the strikes. He managed JeM’s headquarters in Bahawalpur and served as a Shura member. He was responsible for recruiting youth for jihad and organizing terrorist operations from Pakistan.

Pakistan’s Retaliation Hits Civilian Religious Sites

In response to India’s strikes, Pakistan caused collateral damage, targeting religious sites including a Gurudwara and a Madrasa in Poonch. These acts drew sharp criticism and further escalated tensions between the two nations.

Indian Air Defence Destroys Pakistani Drones

India’s Ministry of Defence also showcased the remains of Pakistani drones shot down in Ramnagar, Naushera, and Miran Sahib. These interceptions demonstrated India’s improved air defence readiness and response capabilities.

India Stresses Direct Military Communication

Sources confirmed that India has refused any back-channel talks or third-party mediation. Instead, it has insisted on direct communication between the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries, showing a firm stance on handling military matters through formal channels.

Escalation Triggered by Pakistan’s Drone Attacks

The recent escalation was triggered after Pakistan launched drone strikes on Indian territory. India responded swiftly with Operation Sindoor, which involved precise and well-planned strikes on terrorist infrastructure. This new doctrine signals that any hostile action from Pakistan will be met with immediate and effective retaliation.

India’s Response Measured and Decisive

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, on May 8, stated that Pakistan’s drone attack in Pahalgam marked the initial escalation. He stressed that India’s response was “controlled, precise, measured, considered, and non-escalatory”, adding that it clearly targeted only terror camps and avoided broader military confrontation.
