India Reveals Details of Operation Sindoor After Pahalgam Terror Attack

India launched Operation Sindoor in the early hours of Wednesday. The mission aimed to destroy terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). This was a response to the deadly April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 people.

Top Officials Reveal Operation Details

Just hours after the strike, key officials briefed the media in Delhi. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh explained the objectives. They confirmed that India targeted nine terror camps. Four were located in Pakistan, while the remaining five were in PoK. They said the operation was based on credible intelligence and was executed with high precision.

Major Terror Camps Destroyed in Pakistan

Colonel Qureshi listed the four main camps hit inside Pakistan:

  • Sarjal Camp, Sialkot: This camp lies 6 km inside Pakistan. Qureshi said, “It’s the camp where those terrorists involved in the March 2025 killing of four Jammu and Kashmir police personnel received their training.”

  • Mehmoona Joya Camp, Sialkot: This site is 12–18 km inside Pakistan. She explained, “It’s one of the biggest camps of Hizbul Mujahideen. It is one of the control centres for spreading terrorism in the Kathua, Jammu region.” She added, “The camp planned and directed the attack on the Pathankot Air Force base camp.”

  • Markaz Taiba, Muridke: Located 18–25 km inside Pakistan. Qureshi noted, “Those involved in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks trained here, including Ajmal Kasab and David Headley.”

  • Markaz Subhanallah, Bahawalpur: This camp is 100 km inside Pakistan. She confirmed, “It was the headquarters of Jaish-e-Mohammed, targeted by Indian Armed Forces.”

No Civilian Casualties

Colonel Qureshi clarified that Indian forces avoided any military bases. She said, “No military installation was targeted, and till now there are no reports of civilian casualties in Pakistan.”

Five Camps Targeted in PoK

In addition, Indian forces struck five terror camps in PoK:

  • Shawai Nallah Camp, Muzaffarabad: This Lashkar-e-Taiba camp trained terrorists for the Sonamarg (Oct 2024), Gulmarg (Oct 2024), and Pahalgam (April 2025) attacks.

  • Syedna Bilal Camp, Muzaffarabad: Qureshi described it as a Jaish-e-Mohammed staging area used for “weapon, explosive, and jungle training.”

  • Gulpur Camp, Kotli: Located 30 km from the Line of Control, this LeT camp is linked to the Poonch (April 2023) and pilgrimage bus (June 2024) attacks.

  • Barnala Camp, Bhimber: This site provided training in weapons, jungle survival, and IED use.

  • Kotli Camp: Just 13 km from the LoC, this LeT facility trained suicide squads. It could hold up to 15 terrorists.

Joint Operation by Army, Navy, and Air Force

Between 1:05 am and 1:30 am, India launched a coordinated strike using all three armed forces. The Army, Navy, and Air Force worked together using drones, aircraft, and long-range weapons.

India Responds to Pahalgam Attack

The April 22 attack in Pahalgam was linked to The Resistance Front (TRF), a Lashkar-e-Taiba offshoot based in Pakistan. India had earlier promised that the perpetrators would face consequences.

Now, through Operation Sindoor, India has sent a clear message. It will not tolerate cross-border terrorism and will take decisive action when needed.
