India Reports 2,710 New Covid Cases, Kerala Sees Highest Surge | Details

India’s active Covid cases climb to 2,710, with Kerala reporting the highest numbers. Delhi and Maharashtra follow. The government has ramped up testing and surveillance as deaths reach 22 nationwide. Over 1,170 people have recovered since January 2025.

India Reports 2,710 New Covid Cases, Kerala Sees Highest Surge | Details

India is seeing a fresh spike in Covid-19 cases, with active cases reaching 2,710, according to the latest figures released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday. Kerala has the highest number of active cases, followed by Maharashtra and Delhi.

Up to the last update, Kerala recorded 1,147 active Covid cases, a rise of 227 from Thursday. Maharashtra is second at 424 active cases, and Delhi has 294 infections. Gujarat has 223 cases.

Tamil Nadu and Karnataka states have both reported 148 active cases, with West Bengal having 116 active cases. Altogether, 511 new cases have been reported since yesterday. Interestingly, Sikkim has no active cases.

Covid-related Deaths Reported

Delhi has reported two Covid-related fatalities since January 2025. One of them was a 60-year-old woman who died from Acute Intestinal Obstruction. Kerala has also seen five deaths due to Covid till now. The death toll has been the highest in Maharashtra with seven people reported dead. A total of 22 Covid-related deaths have been reported from across the country.

A total of 1,170 people have recovered or been discharged after being treated for Covid since January 2025. Kerala alone has 338 cases. In Delhi, 214 individuals have recovered, while Tamil Nadu has 183 recoveries.

Government Steps Up Efforts

As a reaction to the sudden surge in infections, the government has stepped up the monitoring of its spread. Surveillance has been intensified, health protocols are being re-enforced, and citizens, particularly high-risk groups, are being urged to be regularly updated with their vaccinations. A number of states have also issued health advisories and boosted Covid tests.
