In the wake of increasing tensions with Pakistan, Indian defence authorities presented a video crediting the success of intercepting almost all Pakistan drones launched on Thursday. If not eliminated, these unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) would have wreaked havoc upon civilian and military infrastructure in India.

The Pakistani Army launched an estimated 500 drones against Indian facilities, according to reports at 24 locations stretching from the Siachen base camp in Ladakh to the Kutch area in Gujarat.

Of these, about 50 drones were destroyed with air defence guns and another 20 were disabled by soft-kill techniques. Most of the UAVs were unarmed and carried cameras for surveillance purposes, presumably relaying live imagery to ground-based control centres.

The Indian Army verified that the armed forces of Pakistan launched coordinated assaults with drones and other ordnance along the western frontier late on May 8–9. These attacks were “effectively repulsed,” a statement by an official published on Friday reported.

Furthermore, Pakistani soldiers also broke the ceasefire on several occasions along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, a post on X by the Indian Army said.

The report stated: “OPERATION SINDOOR – Pakistan Armed Forces conducted repeated attacks with drones and other ordnance along the entire Western Border on intervening night of 08 and 09 May 2025. Pak troops also indulged in multiple ceasefire violations along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.”

The Army also confirmed a robust reaction to both the drone incursions and ceasefire violations:
“Drone strikes were ‘effectively repulsed’ and a ‘befitting response’ issued against ceasefire breaches.”

It underlined India’s preparation for war:
“#IndianArmy remains committed to the defense of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Nation. All nefarious schemes shall be met with force.”
