The Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Wednesday termed Operation Sindoor as a calibrated military reaction to Pakistan’s increasing reliance on asymmetric warfare, which targets more and more civilians and military personnel. The ministry stated that the strike showcased India’s technological prowess and strategic restraint.

“India’s reaction was deliberate, targeted, and strategic. Without violating the Line of Control or international border, Indian troops attacked terrorist infrastructure and neutralized several threats. But beyond tactical excellence, what was noteworthy was the smooth integration of indigenous hi-tech systems with national defence,” the ministry added.

Strikes conducted based on Indian technology

The MoD pointed to the employment of sophisticated Indian technology as being a historic step on the road to military self-reliance. It stated the operation demonstrated major advancement in fields including drone warfare, air defence, and electronic warfare. “Operation Sindoor is a landmark event in India’s path to military technological self-reliance,” the statement read further.

Pakistan’s attacks neutralized by India’s defence grid

In the early morning hours of May 7-8, Pakistan attacked several Indian military bases in northern and western India with drone and missile strikes against Srinagar, Pathankot, Amritsar, Chandigarh, and Bhuj. India’s Integrated Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and layered air defence systems promptly repelled these attacks.

India retaliates with pinpoint precision

Recovering, India mounted retaliatory strikes on May 8 against Pakistani air defence equipment, including an installation in Lahore. The Indian Air Force also attacked major airfields such as Noor Khan and Rahimyar Khan with loitering munitions that crippled radars and missile installations.

“All strikes were executed without loss of Indian assets, underscoring the effectiveness of our surveillance, planning, and delivery systems. The use of modern indigenous technology, from long-range drones to guided munitions, made these strikes highly effective and politically calibrated,” the ministry said.

IAF jammed Chinese-supplied systems in 23 minutes

The MoD mentioned that the Indian Air Force bypassed and jammed Pakistan’s air defence systems provided by China and successfully finished its mission in a mere 23 minutes. The operation displayed India’s operational competence and dominance in electronic warfare.

Debris from the operation verified the involvement of foreign-supplied weapons such as Chinese-made PL-15 missiles and Turkish drones such as the “Yiha” or “YEEHAW.” Nevertheless, India’s own indigenous electronic and air defence systems overcame them.

Synergy among Indian defense forces

The military action in India mobilized resources from the Army, the Navy, but mainly the Air Force. All these forces had been working within the Integrated Air Command and Control System (IACCS) that facilitated the coordination in real time and built India’s capability for net-centric warfare.

“Integrated Air Command and Control System (IACCS) of the Indian Air Force brought these pieces together together, offering net-centric operational ability essential for current warfare,” said the ministry.
