India and Pakistan Agree to Ceasefire Starting today at 5 PM, Talks to Resume on May 12 : Vikram Misri

India and Pakistan have agreed to implement a ceasefire starting today at 5 PM, according to Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. The decision came after a direct conversation between the military generals of both countries.

Vikram Misri confirmed that India’s top military official spoke with his Pakistani counterpart to discuss the ongoing military operations. During this conversation, both sides agreed to pause all hostilities.

“The ceasefire will begin at 5 PM today,” Misri said. He also mentioned that both countries will hold another round of talks on May 12 at 12 noon to review the situation and discuss further steps.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump reacted to the development in a statement, calling it “a great step toward peace.” He added, “I’ve always believed India and Pakistan can find common ground. This ceasefire is a positive signal the world should welcome.”

This move is being seen as a significant development in easing tensions between the two neighbouring nations and could pave the way for long-term dialogue.
