‘INDI Alliance Discredited, Dejected’ Says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked voters who turned out for the fifth round of the 2024 elections, but he also declared that the INDI alliance is discredited and disappointed. He emphasised that the Indian people have made the decision to back a robust administration led by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at the centre.

“Thank you to everyone who participated in yesterday’s 5th phase of the 2024 elections,” Prime Minister Modi posted on his official social media account, X. The NDA is receiving an increasing amount of support. India’s citizens have made up their minds that they desire a powerful NDA administration at the centre.”

“The people will not believe them if INDI Alliance tries any kind of votebank politics,” he continued. They are hopeless and completely discredited.”

By 11:30 p.m. on Monday, the Election Commission (ECI) reported that 60.09 percent of voters had cast ballots in the fifth round of the Lok Sabha elections, which covered 49 parliamentary constituencies spread across six states and two Union Territories (UTs).

According to ECI data, the voter turnout was as follows: Bihar at 54.85 percent, Jammu and Kashmir at 56.73 percent, Jharkhand at 63.07 percent, Ladakh at 69.62 percent, Maharashtra at 54.29 percent, Odisha at 67.59 percent, Uttar Pradesh at 57.79 percent, and West Bengal at 74.65 percent.

With the completion of phase 5, polling for the 2024 General Elections is now finished in 25 States/UTs and 428 parliamentary constituencies. Additionally, polling for the State Legislative Assemblies of Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Andhra Pradesh, and 63 assembly seats in Odisha has also been completed.

The sixth phase of polling is scheduled for May 25 in 58 parliamentary constituencies (including the rescheduled poll in Anantnag-Rajouri) across 8 States/UTs.

The 2024 Lok Sabha elections are being conducted in seven phases from April 19 to June 1, with counting and results to be declared on June 4.
