The Maharashtra state government has recently transferred IAS probationer Dr. Pooja Khedkar from Pune to Washim citing administrative reasons. This decision follows multiple complaints lodged against her conduct. Khedkar, despite being a probationary officer, reportedly used a beacon light on her private vehicle, a privilege not accorded to probationers. Additionally, she allegedly sought unauthorized amenities such as separate office space, staff, and official stationery.
Stationed as an assistant collector in Pune, Khedkar, who ranked 841st nationwide in the civil services exam, also faced criticism for converting a senior officer’s antechamber into her workspace without authorization. Her father, a senior official at the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB), purportedly attempted to use his influence on her behalf. These incidents prompted Pune’s district collector Suhas Diwase to submit a report to the state’s chief secretary regarding Khedkar’s actions.
Furthermore, a photo of Khedkar’s private vehicle with a red and blue beacon surfaced online, highlighting her alleged disregard for regulations. An inquiry into these allegations is expected to follow her transfer to Washim.
