IAF to Launch Major Desert Border Drill with Rafale, Mirage 2000 & Sukhoi-30s from May 7

Starting May 7, the Indian Air Force (IAF) will conduct a large aerial exercise over the desert area and adjacent parts on the India-Pakistan border. An IAF official has verified that every front-line aircraft including Rafale, Mirage 2000, and Sukhoi-30 jets will be featured.

The official said, “The exercise will be of our entire combat fleet to confirm operational readiness in desert conditions.”

Frontline Jets go skyward

To simulate high-intensity missions, the drill will have frequent sorties by top-of-the-line military aircraft. The exercise—reflecting the IAF’s emphasis on maintaining ascendancy along this border—involves Rafale and Mirage 2000 squadrons. In the exercise, Sukhoi-30s will provide air-to-ground and air-to-air capacity.

Raise Combat Readiness

The drill aims to sharpen pilot skills, verify weapon systems, and enhance intersquad coordination. Activities in the challenging desert surroundings will help teams get used to poor visibility, high temperatures, and variable winds.

Improving Border Security

The IAF works to discourage possible threats and guarantee national security by means of practical exercises of combat situations. The official went on to say that exercises of this scope are critical to guarantee operational excellence and fast response capability along the western boundary.

Through these particular drills, the Indian Air Force stresses once more its capacity to protect national airspace and respond rapidly against any attack.
