New Delhi is preparing for an important diplomatic moment as Russian President Vladimir Putin sheduled to arrives today in the capital for a two-day visit.  Putin is scheduled to land in New Delhi on Thursday evening. According to the official programme, he is expected to arrive around 6:35 PM on 4 December. Following his arrival, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host him for a private dinner at his residence on Lok Kalyan Marg.

President Putin Packed Schedule on Friday

Putin’s official engagements begin on Friday. He will start the day with a visit to Rajghat, after which he will be received with a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The leaders will then meet at Hyderabad House, where the main summit-level talks will take place.

After their discussions and lunch hosted by PM Modi, Putin will attend the India-Russia Business Forum, which aims to deepen trade and investment cooperation. In the evening, he will return to Rashtrapati Bhavan, where President Droupadi Murmu will host a state banquet in his honour.

While the schedule for the visit has been formalised, officials have kept the details of Putin’s accommodation confidential due to strict security protocols.

Delhi Turns Into a Security Fortress During Putin Visit

Security agencies across the capital have been placed on maximum alert ahead of the high-profile meeting between Putin and Modi. According to police sources, every department involved has been ordered to maintain uninterrupted surveillance for the entire duration of the visit.

A police official monitoring the arrangements said, "From the time of his arrival till his departure, every movement will be monitored by multiple security agencies. We are coordinating minute-to-minute movement details in real time."

Senior officers of Delhi Police will supervise every aspect of the security grid ranging from traffic regulation to sanitising all areas on the president’s possible route. More than 50 personnel from Russia’s advance security and protocol teams are already in the city. They will inspect all designated routes, stopover points, venues on the itinerary, and the larger security setup.

Another official outlined the scale of deployment: "During the two days, Delhi will witness a multi-layered security ring involving the Delhi Police, central agencies and Putin's personal security team. Specialised units, including SWAT teams, anti-terror squads and quick reaction teams, will be stationed at strategic points across the capital. Drone monitoring, CCTV surveillance and technical intelligence systems will also be deployed to ensure real-time situational awareness."

Residents should expect traffic diversions, restricted zones and limited pedestrian movement in high-security areas. Officials said all advisories will be issued in advance to minimise inconvenience.

A comprehensive security network has been rolled out across Delhi. Local police, central forces, NSG commandos, anti-terror units, and specialised quick-reaction teams are stationed at all critical points.
