India’s recent deployment of Russian-made S-400 air defence missile system has been in the spotlight, more so after it neutralized missile strikes. It was employed in counter to 15 Pakistani missiles fired at military sites, according to ANI utilizing sources.
The S-400 is noted for its advanced radar and intercept capacities, which allow it to identify and annihilate air threats from significant distances. This considerably consolidates India’s air defence, boosting national security.
In a release in 2021, the Ministry of Defence had stated, “The S-400 Missile is a powerful system in terms of its functional ability to generate extended and effective air defence system to a very large area. With the induction of this system, air defence capability of the country will get a great boost.”
The multi-target system that has the capacity to target aerials, cruise missiles, as well as ballistic missiles at different altitudes and ranges is suitable to target such forms of technology and weapons systems.
India also concluded the purchase deal for Russian’s S-400 system delivery on 5 October 2018.
