In Mungeshpur and Narela, the mercury soared to 49.9°C, while in Najafgarh, it peaked at 49.8°C. Although there’s a slight drop in temperature expected on Thursday, relief may come in the form of very light rain on Friday and Saturday, according to IMD forecasts.
The intense heat is attributed to westerly winds blowing from Haryana and Rajasthan. These dry winds have caused a drop in humidity levels, resulting in a lower heat index compared to previous days.

Despite the heatwave, the city continues to face poor air quality, with the air quality index (AQI) at 244 on Tuesday, compared to 223 the previous day.
