Hathras : Double-Decker Bus and Truck Collision; Two Killed, Nearly Sixteen Injured

Two people lost their lives and sixteen others were injured in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras when a double-decker sleeper bus collided with a truck near Toli village on Thursday morning, as reported by district magistrate Ashish Kumar. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath responded swiftly to the incident, directing officials to ensure prompt medical treatment for the injured, according to an official statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

Ashish Kumar emphasized that the accident occurred due to the bus driver’s negligence, resulting in the bus ramming into a parked truck, causing casualties and injuries. Upon receiving the news, Hathras Superintendent of Police (SP) Nipun Aggarwal and his team rushed to the scene to conduct rescue operations and facilitate the transport of the injured to a hospital.

Expressing sorrow over the tragic loss of lives, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath instructed officials to expedite rescue efforts and provide necessary support to those affected, as mentioned in the CMO statement.

The incident follows closely after another fatal accident in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, where a double-decker sleeper bus collided with a milk tanker on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, resulting in the deaths of 18 people and injuries to 19 others. District magistrate Gaurang Rathi indicated that the speeding bus from Motihari, Bihar, crashed into the milk tanker from behind, prompting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Additional Director General of Police, Lucknow, SB Shiradkar confirmed the casualties and detailed the rescue operations, while Bangarmau Circle Officer (CO) Arvind Kumar described the scene of the collision and the immediate response by authorities to attend to the injured.

Both incidents have highlighted the urgency of road safety measures in Uttar Pradesh, prompting efforts from state and national authorities to ensure the well-being of affected individuals, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi announcing financial assistance for the families of the deceased.
