Haryana: HRIDC To Conduct Feasibility Study For Eastern Orbital Rail Corridor

The Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation will carry out a detailed feasibility study for the Eastern Orbital Rail Corridor project. The proposed rail corridor of 135 km-long will be parallel to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway and would connect Palwal district of Haryana with Sonipat via Ghaziabad, Noida and Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh government entrusted this work to the HRIDC. Of the total length, 90 km will fall within Uttar Pradesh while 45 km will lie within Haryana.

The decision was announced in the 28th HRIDC Board of Directors meeting presided over by Chief Secretary TVSN Prasad. The MD, HRIDC, Rajesh Agarwal presented the details of the on-going projects which included feasibility studies for new rail line from Narwana to Uklana and a new chord line from Kurukshetra. Besides, the Railway Board has also sanctioned a final location survey for Karnal-Yamunanagar New Rail Line. Efforts are being made to get approval from the Ministry of Railway at the earliest.

Agarwal said the final location survey for the Farukhnagar-Jhajjar New Line has been cleared to provide better connectivity from IGI Airport in Delhi to Maharaja Agrasen Airport in Hisar. In addition, HRIDC is examining the elevation of the railway track at Kaithal to avoid scheduled level crossings.

The KET Project, jointly funded by the Haryana Government and the Ministry of Railways, is warming up to its completion, with the viaduct likely to become operational by August 1, 2024. Among those present at the meeting were senior officials, including Anurag Agarwal and Priyanka Soni.
