This latest encounter comes just a day after two soldiers were killed in Kulgam district during overnight firing. The fallen personnel were identified as Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh. Both lost their lives as Operation Akhal entered its ninth day.
Security forces had started Operation Akhal on August 1 after receiving credible information about the presence of terrorists in the region. The effort is a coordinated one, involving the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF, and the Special Operations Group (SOG). In the Kulgam operation, at least one terrorist was neutralised.

Their courage and dedication will forever inspire us. Indian Army expresses deepest condolences and stand in solidarity with the bereaved families. Operation continues.”
