Gunfight Breaks Out In Udhampur, Operation Underway: Police

Jammu, August 6: A gunfight erupted between militants and security forces in the Khaned area of Basanthgarh in Udhampur district on Tuesday.

The Deputy Inspector General of Udhampur, through a post on the X platform, announced, “After specific input was gleaned regarding movement in the area, a SADO was launched in the wee hours today by our parties; contact has been established with a group of terrorists in the Khaned area of PS Basantgarh. Ops underway.”

This incident comes after a Village Defence Guard was martyred in an encounter in the Basanthgarh area on April 28, 2024.
