Two individuals tragically lost their lives, and three others sustained injuries following a fire outbreak at Arihant Industrial Estate in the Odhav area of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, as per a statement from a fire official.
The fire department reported that the incident occurred around 1:15 pm on Monday due to an explosion in shed no. 75, Banshee Powder Coating, within Arihant Industrial Estate. Immediate response teams were dispatched to the scene, initiating a rescue operation.
Among the casualties were the owner, 50-year-old Rameshbhai Patel, and a worker named Pawan Kumar, aged 25. Additionally, Patel’s son Vasudev was injured and has been transferred to the nearest hospital for medical care.
Another affected individual was the owner of shed no. 74, Ganesh Plastic, identified as Dungarsingh Bahadursingh Rajput, along with a 22-year-old worker named Surpalasi Thakur, who were both taken to the nearest medical facility. Shed no. 76, Akash Industries, suffered damage, although no casualties were reported from that location.
SS Gadhavi, the officer from Nikol fire station, explained that the blast occurred due to pressure buildup in the oven during hot processing for powder coating at the powder coating firm in Odhav area. He confirmed the unfortunate loss of two lives and the injuries sustained by three individuals, all of whom have received medical attention. The deceased individuals’ bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination at Civil Hospital.
