GPR survey started at Agroha archaeological site in Hisar

Haryana Vidhan Sabha speaker Gian Chand Gupta and urban local bodies minister Kamal Gupta inaugurated the ground-penetrating radar (GPR) survey at the Agroha archaeological site in Hisar on Monday. A recent agreement between the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and the Haryana archaeology and museum department paved the way for the development of the Agroha archaeological site.

Upon completion of the survey, subsequent steps will be taken. The Agroha archaeological site witnessed its last excavation between 1978 and 1981, unearthing evidence of an ancient civilization beneath the mound, as stated by an official spokesperson.

During the event, the speaker emphasized the government’s ambitious plan to transform Agroha into a world-class tourism destination. He highlighted the significance of uncovering the rich history through the excavation of the Agroha mound.

The urban local bodies minister, in his address, disclosed a prepared plan to develop Agroha as a global city within a 25 km radius. He explained that GPR is a geophysical technique capable of discerning the composition of layers beneath the ground surface and identifying any underlying structures.
