The Punjab government has announced a significant administrative reshuffle, transferring nine IAS officers following recent changes in the police department.
IAS Alok Shekhar has been appointed as the Additional Chief Secretary of Jails, succeeding his previous role as the Additional Chief Secretary of Rural Development and Panchayats. Tejveer Singh will now serve as the Additional Chief Secretary of Local Government.
IAS Ajoy Sharma has been relieved from his previous duties and is now the Principal Secretary of Tourism and Cultural Affairs. He will also take on the role of Principal Secretary of Governance Reforms, with IAS Krishna Kumar being relieved from this position.
IAS Rahul Tiwari has been named the Administrative Secretary of Science, Technology, and Environment. In addition to this, he will handle the responsibilities of Administrative Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, taking over from IAS Anurag Verma. Tiwari is also appointed as the Administrative Secretary of Power and the Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited, replacing IAS Tejveer Singh in these roles.
IAS Kumar Rahul has been appointed as the Administrative Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, replacing IAS Ajoy Kumar. IAS Gurpreet Kaur Sapra will now serve as the Personnel Secretary, Secretary Vigilance, and Commissioner of Ropar Division. IAS Dilraj Singh takes on the role of Administrative Secretary of Rural Development and Panchayats, along with the responsibilities of Administrative Secretary of Transport and Parliamentary Affairs.
This reshuffle follows the Punjab government’s transfer of 24 IPS officers and four PPS officers on August 2nd, which included changes in the SSPs of 15 districts and the Road Safety Force.
