In a distressing event in Puttur, Dakshina Kannada, a girl was attacked by a fellow student who allegedly had a crush on her. According to Superintendent of Police Yathish N., the incident took place on the morning of August 20 while the girl was on her way to college. The boy, who was acquainted with the victim, approached her, and after his advances were turned down, assaulted her with a weapon, causing injuries to her hand.
The girl is currently being treated at a government hospital. A case has been filed at the D.K. Women’s Police Station under case number 42/2024, citing sections 78, 126(2), 118(1), 238 BNS 2023, along with section 12 of the POCSO Act. The investigation remains underway.
