Frequent rains and cloudbursts in upper regions of Himachal cause flood like situation

Due to frequent rains and cloudbursts in the upper regions of Himachal, the water level of the huge Gobind Sagar lake behind the Bhakra Dam is continuously increasing, in view of which the BBMB management decided to increase the water level of the Bhakra Dam after reaching 1671 feet. In the name of flood gate testing, one foot gate was opened, which has been increased to four feet today, because the water level of Bhakra Dam had reached up to 1679 feet, which is only 1 feet below the danger mark. BBMB management is continuously increasing the discharge from Nangal Dam to Sutlej River, due to which the people living on the banks of Sutlej River have come under the grip of flood. 77, 200 cusecs of water is being released from Nangal Dam to Sutlej River, due to which Sutlej River is in full spate. Swami Ramanand Ashram, located about one kilometer from Nangal Dam, is completely submerged in water.Apart from this, dozens of villages such as Lower Mojowal, Beladhyani, Bhanam, Jindwadi etc. have been inundated due to the floods in the Sutlej River. People are taking their belongings to safer places with the help of rowboats. Apart from this, NDRF teams have also reached the spot. Chuki. People are suffering huge losses. People’s houses have been filled with water up to 5 to 6 feet. Education Minister Harjot Singh Bhains visited the flood-affected village adjacent to Nangal, where Education Minister Harjot Singh Bhains said that BB MB will be released in Sutlej Darya on behalf of the administration, due to water in Sutlej Darya, near Darzan village adjacent to Nangal. The water has caused havoc, he said that whatever damage has happened in the flood-affected village, the government will make up for it, the administration and the government are continuously conducting rescue operations for the people trapped in the flood.The same two teams of NDRF have also been deployed to safely evacuate the people trapped in the flood, for this even if there is a need to lift the air that too will be done by the government.
