Four-wheeler overturns in Lakhimpur, 5 killed

A four-wheeler overturned in the Lakhimpur Kheri area, killing at least five people, according to the police.

According to officials, the incident happened early on Tuesday morning on the Palia-Bhira route in Lakhimpur Kheri. The locals, who witnessed the incident, called for an ambulance. Upon learning of the situation, a police squad from Palia police station went to the scene and took the victims to the hospital.

Officials said that there were 10 passengers on board the vehicle when the incident took place.
“Five people in the vehicle were killed in the accident, while others have been injured,” Superintendent of Police (Lakhimpur Kheri), Sanjeev Suman said.

“They were coming from Shahjahanpur and going to Palia when the vehicle’s driver lost control and ended up overturning it,” he said.

According to him, the incident has been reported to the Palia police station, and an investigation has been launched to determine the precise cause of the mishap.
