Four decades after Bollywood movie Ground Zero screened in Kashmir,

Srinagar April 18: This is truly a historic moment for the film fraternity as nearly after four decades Bollywood steps in Kashmir and Ground Zero’s special screening for the jawans marks the beginning.

A movie based on story of valour and patriotism of a BSF soldier casting Bollywood actor Imran Hashmi was screened for the first time in kashmir at Srinagar multiplex after four decades.

The movie titled Ground Zero revolving a story of a bsf soldier N.N Dubey depicts a message of fight against terrorism in kashmir the movie was shot in most volatile and once a terror hub down town area of north kashmir in Baramulla.

Pertinent to mention that the cinema halls in kashmir were shut and set ablaze in early 90’s by terrorists and remained under constant threats of separatists till abrogation of article 370. The valley witnessed the opening of first multiplex in Srinagar after post Abrogation in 2023. However there are efforts going on to revive old cinema halls that remained abandoned and deserted for last four decades.

The screening of Bollywood movies and the return of Bollywood movies to kashmir is evident to emergence of Naya Kashmir. In Ground Zero, Emraan Hashmi essays the role of Commandant Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey, who led a two year long investigation. Based on the BSF’s most daring operation in the last 50 years, the film brings to life a true story of service, sacrifice, and strength, set against the backdrop of Kashmir.

Today the significant screening of Bollywood movie Ground Zero based of life of security forces fighting terrorism sent out a message of prevailing peace and normalcy in kashmir. The screening was done in a Srinagar based multiplex where the actor imran Hashmi and Bollywood producer Farhan Akhtar were also present. The screening was held in a special presence of BSF Jawans and number of artists, personalities and nationalists. Imran Hashmi praised kashmir and expressed happiness over kashmir.
