Sopore, Nov. 06: An encounter is underway in the Sagipora area of Sopore, North Kashmir, where two foreign terrorists and one local militant are believed to be trapped. The operation, launched on November 7, 2024, was a joint effort by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police.
According to an official statement by the Army, the operation was initiated based on specific intelligence about the presence of terrorists in the region. “Suspicious activity was observed by vigilant troops, and upon being challenged, terrorists opened indiscriminate fire. Our troops effectively retaliated,” the statement read.
The encounter continues, with forces maintaining a tight cordon around the area, as the operation progresses. Authorities have urged residents to stay clear of the vicinity for safety reasons.
This marks yet another significant operation in the region as security forces intensify their efforts to neutralize terror threats in North Kashmir.
