The Enforcement Directorate conducted raids at multiple locations in Ranchi, recovering a huge sum of money from a close aide of Jharkhand’s rural minister and Congress MLA Alamgir Alam on Monday.
As per the video footage, wads of currency notes were present in the room that allegedly belonged to the private secretary Sanjiv Lal’s domestic help of rural minister Alamgir Alam.
Authorities have reported the recovery of over 20 crores from the raid, with the counting process still underway.
When asked about this cash haul, Alam talking to the sources has said “I have no official information regarding this so far.”
He also mentioned that he got to know while he was watching TV, which was reporting that the premises have been linked to his official private secretary, a position provided by the government.
Previously, the agency had apprehended Virendra K. Ram, the chief engineer of the Jharkhand Rural Development Department, on charges of money laundering due to alleged irregularities in the implementation of certain government schemes.
