ECI Takes Cognizance of MCC Violations of Narendra Modi & Rahul Gandhi

The Election Commission of India has taken the cognizance of the alleged Model Code of Conduct violations done by both Prime minister Narendra Modi and Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi. Just days 48 hours before the second phase of the Lok Sabha Elections.

The commission has invoked the section 77 of the Representation of the People Act and has held party presidents responsible, to rein over their star campaigners.

Speaking about the action, The Election Commission has opined that political parties are responsible for the campaigner’s conduct. Especially of the star campaigners. The speeches given by the persons holding high positions are of more serious consequences.

This development comes days after the prime minister Narendra Modi took the jibe at wealth redistribution promise remark and said if congress is voted to power, it would distribute the country’s wealth to infiltrators and those with more children. At Rajasthan’s Banswara on Sunday. Thus, getting targeted by the opposition.

Meanwhile, Congress wasn’t without its controversies either. BJP targeted Congress overseas leader Sam Pitroda over his comments on “US inheritance tax” at Chhattisgarh’s Surguja rally, accusing the party of planning to steal the hard-earned resources of the citizens. As a result, due to the backlash, the INC distanced itself from Pitroda’s remarks.

As reported by the ANI, both INC and BJP have accused each other of breeding hatred & division based on religion and caste.

But ECI taking the matter into its own hands, seeks response from the both the candidates by 29th April on 11 am.
