Delhi Police’s Crime Branch has arrested two drug peddlers, Tej Singh (27) and Subedar Singh (20), residents of Nihal Vihar, Nangloi, and confiscated 915 grams of heroin worth more than Rs 1 crore in the international market, an official said on Monday.
The arrest followed specific intelligence received, indicating that Tej and his associate were en route to the red-light district in Sector 23–24, Rohini, Delhi. They were expected to arrive with a consignment of heroin for distribution.
“Based on this information, a sting operation was set up at the specified location, leading to the successful apprehension of the accused individuals from Delhi. Police seized 915 grams of heroin with a market value exceeding Rs 1 crore in the international market from their possession,” said Special Commissioner of Police (Crime), Ravindra Singh Yadav.
During interrogation, both suspects disclosed that they shared a common acquaintance who was also implicated in drug trafficking. Furthermore, they revealed that their own sibling, named Kunwar, was actively involved in the drug trade and utilized their taxi for transporting drugs. In exchange for this service, he earned an estimated Rs 20,000 for each round trip between Uttar Pradesh and Delhi,” stated the Special CP.
In 2018, Kunwar Singh was arrested in an NDPS case by the Delhi Police Crime Branch.
“Following his incarceration, the accused individuals began visiting him in jail and established connections with other visitors. Consequently, they became acquainted with drug peddlers from Uttar Pradesh.
