Hyderabad Pub Raid: Dozens Test Positive for Drugs at EDM Party

A recent raid by Hyderabad police at a pub in the Manikonda area revealed extensive drug use at an Electronic Dance Music (EDM) party. Among the 50 attendees, 24 tested positive for drug consumption, including the DJ. The Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGNAB) and the Special Operations Team of Raidurgam Police conducted the raid following a tip-off.

Raid Details
On the night between Saturday and Sunday, Hyderabad police, along with the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGNAB) and the Special Operations Team of Raidurgam Police, raided a pub in the Manikonda area. They acted on a tip-off about drug consumption at an EDM party.

Attendees Tested Positive
Approximately 50 people were picked up during the raid. TGNAB officials used portable drug detection kits to test the attendees, resulting in 24 positive tests for drug use. The DJ was among those who had consumed drugs, primarily ganja.

Ongoing Investigation
Police are currently working to identify the main accused in the case. Those arrested will be produced before a magistrate later in the day.

TGNAB’s Anti-Drug Efforts
This raid is part of a broader crackdown on drug use by the TGNAB. Recently, they identified 20 students from a business school involved in purchasing narcotics from peddlers. This was discovered following the arrest of three drug peddlers and eight consumers.

Statistics and Seizures
In the first half of this year, the state registered 1,982 cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. A total of 3,792 accused were arrested, and contraband worth ₹179.3 crore was seized. Additionally, properties worth ₹47.16 crore belonging to narcotics offenders and their associates were frozen in five cases.
