A doctor from Chandigarh recently shared an experience at a 5-star hotel in Pune regarding issues with room assignment and hygiene issues. The narrator claimed that her room was changed without prior notice or explanation while checking into the hotel, but she accepted the change. Unfortunately, her stay worsened when she returned from the spa to discover a used comb inside a sealed package in her room.
Taking to X, she complained against the hygiene and professionalism maintained at the hotel. ” Checked in to Hyatt Pune. Just to notice that my room had been switched without any sort of intimation. No explanation, no apology, no courtesy. Just a silent switch. But I was accommodated. But then I went to their spa, returned to my room, opened up a sealed pack of comb from which I came across a used comb. Recycled hotel amenities? Disgusting and unhygienic. If they’re reusing combs, what else are they reusing? Toothbrushes? Horrifying to even think about. Raised my concerns with GM Sandesh Parab and that’s when things went from bad to worse. Instead of listening, he was rude, condescending and dismissive.”
She further alleged that when she confronted the General Manager about the issue, he reacted aggressively. “When I told him not to do this and that social media can make or break reputations these days, he shouted at me and said, ‘Do what you want, I’ll see what I need to do.’ I asked his permission to take his picture to highlight the issue, he became nasty. This is how Hyatt Pune GM treats guests.”. A 5-star hotel with zero hygiene standards, recycled amenities, and a General Manager who bullies customers? Unacceptable, is this your hospitality standard?”

The post elicited a reaction from online users with one of them recounting that “I have experienced the same scenario once, since then, I have adopted a culture of taking the toiletries along with the laundry bag, so that nothing can be recycled, most of this stuff is unwanted, so I just dump them in some garbage bin along the road. But I don’t drop them there for use again.
That is shocking behavior by the GM. If I were the boss, I would have investigated and probably sacked him for lack of propriety and probably sacked a couple of other senior managers for substandard hygiene. Arrogance and shabby standards have no place in the service industry,” another user was critical of the management at that hotel.
However, some light with laughter came during the discussion with one participant saying, “He was newly promoted and is probably experiencing some kind of performance anxiety. You should have prescribed iRed Super Combo to help him perform better.” Others mentioned that Hyatt hotels have a long history of horrible customer service: “Hyatt has that reputation of being inhospitable and rude to their guests.”. I feel that the hotels operated by the chain in 3-tier cities are not well groomed. Someone else raised even broader concerns and wrote, “When a hotel recycles sealed amenities, they’re not only betraying the trust of a customer, they’re gambling with health and safety. The question is: if they’re prepared to cut combs in visible items, what’s happening in the dark places?
