Desh Bhagat University held a rally for ‘Green Diwali,’ promoting eco-friendly celebrations

Students from all classes eagerly participated in various competitions, including rangoli making, diya and candle decoration, and costume contests. The enthusiasm among the participants was palpable, reflecting their creativity and spirit. To recognize their efforts, prizes were awarded to the winners, serving as tokens of love and motivation. Key figures at the event included Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor; Dr. Tejinder Kaur, Pro-Chancellor; Dr. Sandeep Singh, President; Dr. Pooja Gulati, Principal of the School of Pharmacy; Dr. Shailesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of S. Lal Singh Memorial College of Pharmacy; and Ms. Khushpal, Principal of Mata Jarnail’s College of Pharmacy. They collectively wished the attendees a Happy Diwali and commended the organization of such engaging events.
In addition to the celebrations, the university also emphasized the importance of sustainable practices during Diwali. The Department of Business Management and Commerce organized a rally under the theme “Green Diwali – Say No to Fireworks.” The rally commenced from Saunti village and concluded at the university campus, drawing attention to eco-friendly ways to celebrate the festival of lights.
Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh expressed his congratulations to the department and students for initiating this thoughtful movement, highlighting the significance of raising awareness about environmental sustainability. Dr. Rajni Saluja, Head of the Department of Business Management and Commerce, encouraged participants to actively spread the message of sustainable practices within their communities.
The rally concluded with Dr. Manoj Kumar leading a pledge among the students to celebrate Diwali without firecrackers, reinforcing their commitment to promoting a cleaner and greener environment. The collective efforts of the university community to blend traditional celebrations with modern sustainable practices exemplified a forward-thinking approach to cultural festivities, ensuring that the joy of Diwali is shared without compromising the health of the planet.
