Delhi’s Dry Days: Dates When Liquor Shop Be Closed In October And November

In a recent notification issued by the Excise Department, liquor shops in Delhi will be closed on national holidays during October and November. The announcement outlines specific “dry days” when the sale of alcohol will be prohibited across the National Capital Territory.

List of Dry Days in October

According to the notification dated September 19, the following dates will be observed as dry days in October:

  • October 2 – Gandhi Jayanti
  • October 5 – Election-related restrictions
  • October 8 – Vote counting for the Haryana Assembly elections
  • October 12 – Dussehra
  • October 17 – Valmiki Jayanti
  • October 31 – Deepawali

The notice also states that dry days will be enforced 48 hours before the end of polling, which means that the sale of liquor will be restricted from 6:00 PM on October 3 until 6:00 PM on October 5.

Dry Days in November

The restrictions will continue into November, with the following dates designated as dry days:

  • November 15 – Guru Nanak Gurpurab
  • November 24 – Guru Tegh Bahadur’s Martyrdom Day

Exceptions to the Rule

It’s important to note that the prohibition on liquor sales during these dry days does not apply to hotels with L-15 and L-15F licenses. These establishments are permitted to serve alcohol to their residents, ensuring that guests can still enjoy their beverages despite the broader restrictions.

This initiative aims to maintain public order and respect significant national and religious observances. Residents and visitors in Delhi are advised to plan accordingly to avoid any inconvenience during the upcoming dry days.
