Security forces on Friday demolished the Pulwama residence of Dr Umar Nabi, the man linked to the car explosion near the Red Fort on Monday evening. The house, located in Koil village, was brought down as part of the ongoing probe into the deadly blast.

The blast killed at least 10 people and injured several others. Officials confirmed that Umar Nabi was driving the Hyundai i20 involved in the explosion. “His identity was established after DNA samples collected from the site matched those of his mother,” said authorities.

Nabi as Assistant Professor in Al Falah University

Nabi served as an assistant professor at Al Falah University in Faridabad. Delhi Police earlier said he had connections with Dr Muzammil Shakeel Ganaie and Dr Adeel Rather. The two were arrested in Jammu and Kashmir last week and accused of storing over 2,900 kgs of ammonium nitrate, detonators, timers, and assault rifles in Faridabad.

Investigators have named Nabi as the prime accused. Officials said he acted “in panic and desperation” following a major crackdown on his network in Faridabad.

New Leads in Red Fort Blast Case

In a recent development, officials confirmed the seizure of a silver Maruti Brezza. The vehicle, registered on September 25 under the name of Dr Shaheen Shahid, is the fourth car now under investigation. Authorities are reconstructing the logistics and transport chain behind Monday’s blast.

The other cars involved include the white Hyundai i20 allegedly driven by Dr Umar Nabi, a red Ford EcoSport recovered from a Faridabad village, and a Maruti Swift Dzire owned by Shahid, which Dr Muzammil Ghanaie allegedly used to move explosives.

According to officials, the module used these four vehicles to transport firearms from Jammu & Kashmir to Delhi-NCR. They also moved ammonium nitrate and other explosive materials across Faridabad and the capital.

Investigations Underway

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and J&K Police are probing the wider network. On Tuesday, Delhi Police filed an FIR invoking the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Sections include 16 for the punishment of terrorist acts and 18 for conspiracy.

Charges under the Explosive Substances Act were also added. These include Section 3 for causing an explosion likely to endanger life and Section 4 for attempting to cause such an explosion. Additionally, Sections 103(1) for murder, 109(1) for attempt to murder, and 61(2) for criminal conspiracy of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) were applied.

Officials continue to investigate the case to trace all members of the terror module. The focus remains on unraveling the transport chain and the explosives network linked to Dr Umar Nabi and his associates.

The demolition of Nabi’s Pulwama residence is part of the larger crackdown on individuals linked to the Red Fort blast. Authorities are committed to ensuring that all leads are thoroughly investigated and that justice is served for the victims.
