Delhi Rains After Experiencing Its Hottest Day, Nearly 52.3 Degrees

Following Delhi’s recording of the highest-ever temperature in the country at 52.3 degrees Celsius, showers arrived in the national capital this afternoon, offering relief from the intense heat.

Delhi has been enduring severe heatwave conditions recently, with maximum temperatures nearing 50 degrees Celsius and minimum temperatures edging towards 30 degrees.

It witnessed an unprecedented event as temperatures soared to a scorching 52.3 degrees Celsius, marking the highest recorded temperature in the city’s history. The Delhi weather office confirmed this alarming milestone, highlighting the severity of the ongoing heatwave gripping the region.

As the relentless heatwave persists, residents are increasingly turning to air conditioners for relief, resulting in an extraordinary surge in power demand. Officials from the electricity department reported a record-breaking power consumption of 8,302 megawatts (MW) in the city.
