Delhi Police Releases Advisory for New Year 2026 Celebrations | Know Diversions, Parking Spots and No-Entry Zones

Delhi Police have announced special traffic rules, diversions, and parking plans for New Year’s Eve to manage large crowds and ensure public safety in Connaught Place and nearby areas

One of the most awaited celebrations among youths is New Year’s Eve, which is approaching soon. To prevent any mishaps, the Delhi Police have issued a special traffic plan for Connaught Place and nearby areas, where large crowds are expected. These rules will apply to both private and public transport to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety.

No-Entry Points Around Connaught Place

As per the traffic advisory, vehicles will not be allowed to move towards Connaught Place from the following locations:

  1. R/A Mandi House

  2. R/A Bengali Market

  3. North foot of Ranjit Singh Flyover

  4. Minto Road – Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg crossing

  5. Chelmsford Road near Munje Chowk (New Delhi Railway Station)

  6. R.K. Ashram Marg – Chitragupta Marg crossing

  7. R/A Gole Market

  8. R/A G.P.O., New Delhi

  9. Patel Chowk

  10. Kasturba Gandhi Road – Ferozeshah Road crossing

  11. Jai Singh Road – Bangla Sahib Lane

  12. R/A Windsor Place

These restrictions will begin from 7 PM on Wednesday, December 31. Only vehicles with valid passes will be allowed inside the inner, middle, and outer circles of Connaught Place.

  • Kali Bari Marg

  • Pt. Pant Marg

  • Bhai Veer Singh Marg

Near Patel Chowk

  • Rakab Ganj Road (behind AIR)

Near Mandi House

  • Copernicus Marg up to Baroda House

Near Minto Road

  • D.D. Upadhaya Marg and Press Road area

Near Panchkuian Road

  • R.K. Ashram Marg

  • Chitragupta Road

  • Basant Road (towards Paharganj)

Near K.G. Marg–Ferozeshah Road Crossing

  • Copernicus Lane

  • K.G. Marg towards C-Hexagon

Near Bengali Market

  • Babar Road

  • Tansen Marg

Near Windsor Place

  • Rajendra Prasad Road

  • Raisina Road

Near Gole Market

  • Peshwa Road

  • Service Road along Bhai Veer Singh Marg

Parking will be allowed on a first-come, first-served basis because of limited space. The advisory warns that unauthorised parked vehicles will be towed away and prosecuted.


Routes to Reach New Delhi Railway Station (From South Delhi)

Passengers heading to New Delhi Railway Station should follow these routes:

  • Ram Manohar Lohiya Park Street – Mandir Marg – Rani Jhansi Road – R/A Jhande Walan – Desh Bandhu Gupta Road

  • R/A GPO – Kali Bari Marg – Mandir Marg – Rani Jhansi Road – R/A Jhande Walan – Desh Bandhu Gupta Road

  • R/A Windsor Place – Ferozeshah Road – Mandi House – ‘W’ Point – ‘A’ Point – DDU Marg – Bhav Bhuti Marg

Entry into the station from Connaught Place via Chelmsford Road will be closed.

Alternative Routes for North–South Travel

Commuters traveling north to south or vice versa are advised to use:

  • Ring Road from ISBT to Ashram

  • Via Delhi Gate, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Mathura Road

  • Via ISBT, Rani Jhansi Marg, Panchkuiyan Road, Mandir Marg, Park Street, Mother Teresa Crescent Road

  • Via Rani Jhansi Marg, Panchkuiyan Road, Hanuman Murti, Ring Road

Routes for East–West Travel

For east–west movement, use:

  • Ring Road

  • Bhairon Road

  • Mathura Road

  • Subramaniam Bharti Marg

  • Mother Teresa Crescent

  • R/A RML

  • Park Street

  • Shankar Road

Traffic Restrictions Around India Gate

Large crowds are expected at India Gate, so special measures have been planned. If pedestrian movement becomes heavy, vehicles may be stopped from entering the C-Hexagon and India Gate area and diverted from:

  1. Q-Point

  2. R/A MLNP

  3. R/A Sunheri Masjid

  4. R/A Mar-Janpath

  5. Rajpath – Rafi Marg

  6. R/A Windsor Place

  7. R/A Rajendra Prasad Road – Janpath

  8. K.G. Marg – Ferozeshah Road

  9. R/A Mandi House

  10. W-Point

  11. Mathura Road – Purana Qila Road

  12. Mathura Road – Sher Shah Road

Advisory for Zoo and Mathura Road Area

With many visitors expected at Delhi Zoo, traffic congestion is likely on Mathura Road. People are advised to avoid Bhairon Road and Mathura Road between Hazrat Nizamuddin and Pragati Maidan.

The Delhi Police have urged all commuters to plan their travel carefully and follow the traffic advisory to avoid delays and inconvenience during New Year’s Eve celebrations.
