Delhi Police have arrested seven individuals, including a doctor, for their involvement in an international organ transplant racket. This major operation was uncovered by the Crime Branch, as confirmed by an official statement on Tuesday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, Amit Goel, informed ANI, “Seven people have been arrested in connection with an international organ transplant racket. The mastermind of this racket was a Bangladeshi national.”
According to Goel, both the organ donors and recipients were from Bangladesh. The police have arrested a man named Russell, who was responsible for arranging patients and donors. Additionally, a female doctor involved in the transplant process has been apprehended.
The investigation revealed that the people involved in this racket had established connections in Bangladesh. They charged between Rs 25-30 lakhs for each transplant. “They have been running this organ racket since 2019,” the Delhi Police added.
