On August 15, Delhi Metro services will start at 4am for Independence Day celebrations, with trains running every 15 minutes until 6am. After 6am, normal schedules will resume, DMRC announced on Tuesday.
Typically operating from 5am to 11:30pm, Delhi Metro will adjust its timings to accommodate the expected surge of visitors to the Red Fort for the day’s events.
Passengers with government-issued invitation cards for the Independence Day ceremony can travel by showing their invitation and a valid photo ID. This special arrangement allows entry and exit at Lal Quila, Jama Masjid, and Chandni Chowk stations. The cost of travel for these passengers will be covered by the Ministry of Defence.
PM Narendra Modi is set to deliver his Independence Day address from the Red Fort at 7:30am. Regular announcements will be made on trains to inform passengers of these arrangements.
