On Friday, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena of Delhi issued an order reorganizing several IPS officers, following the Police Establishment Board’s recommendation. This order represents a significant change in authority for these IPS rank officials, especially in light of recent emerging threats such as the security breach in the parliament and the second attack outside the Israel embassy. In addition to law and order special CP, National Capital also receives a new chief of the anti-terror squad. The head of the Delhi police special cell will be Rajendra Pal Upadhaya, an IPS graduate from 1991. The security wing will beled by Dependra Pathak, who is officially serving as special CP. Ravinder Yadav, an IPS graduate from the 1995 batch.
DCP New Delhi whose area saw the parliament attacks and the Israel embassy blast threat has been transferred to the special branch whereas Sagar Preet Hooda who was in the position of special CP, Law and Order has been transferred to PCR and communications.
Last year during the Parliament Winter session, two people–Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D–jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery during Zero Hour, released yellow gas from canisters and shouted anti-establishment slogans before being overpowered by the MPs.
