A 29-year-old woman was found dead in a hotel bathroom in Delhi’s Paharganj area on Sunday morning, leading to the arrest of her partner within two hours. The incident occurred at a hotel on Arakashan Road in the Nabi Karim area of Central Delhi.
Couple Checked In, Woman Found Dead Next Morning
According to police, a PCR call was received at 9:47 am from a hotel staff member, reporting that a woman was found lying unresponsive in the bathroom while her male companion was missing. “The couple had checked in on Saturday at 4:15 pm,” said Nidhin Valsan, DCP, Central. “They ordered pizza and lassi around 6 pm, which was delivered to their room.”
As per the identification documents provided during check-in, the couple were identified as Sachin (31) and Sarika (29). Sachin could be seen leaving the hotel premises alone early in the morning through the CCTV footage, sparking immediate suspicion.
Police rushed to the scene, and their crime unit conducted a thorough investigation. Photographs were taken, and all possible evidence was collected. The woman’s body was taken to the mortuary for a post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.
Accused Confesses After Arrest
“Preliminary findings suggest the woman was strangled with a drawstring,” added DCP Valsan. A case of murder was registered, and the accused was soon located and taken into custody.
During questioning, Sachin told the police that he and Sarika were in a relationship, but he suspected she was involved with someone else. According to police, “They quarreled over the matter, and during the altercation, he beat her and then allegedly strangled her to death.”
Authorities are continuing the investigation to confirm the sequence of events and ensure justice for the victim. The investigation is ongoing, but it is important to bring justice to the victim so that other such cases do not happen in the future.
