Delhi Government Formation: Swearing-In Expected on Feb 19 or 20, BJP Yet to Announce CM

The inauguration ceremony for the newly elected Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government in Delhi is expected to take place on February 19 or 20, according to a party official. However, there is ongoing speculation concerning who will be selected as the chief minister.

BJP leaders have suggested that the upcoming administration will concentrate on crucial issues such as providing access to clean drinking water and improving civic infrastructure.

Swearing-In and Leadership Speculation

Rajouri Garden MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa, viewed as a potential contender for the chief ministerial role or a ministerial position, told PTI, “The new government will commence operations around February 19-20. ”

The procedure to select BJP’s legislature party leader was expected to commence after Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned from his diplomatic visit to France and the U. S. PM Modi came back to Delhi on Friday night after concluding his trip.

Uncertainty Over Chief Ministerial Pick

Newly elected BJP MLAs dismissed speculation regarding a rivalry for the chief minister’s position, characterizing such assertions as generated by the media.

Second-term Laxmi Nagar MLA Abhay Verma, who is also under consideration for the leading role, commented, “There is no competition for the post of Delhi chief minister. In our party, the CM or the leader of the legislature party is selected in a meeting of the MLAs. ”

Verma further emphasized the party’s commitment to development, clean air, and pollution-free water, asserting, “We have come to serve the people and are now contemplating how to tackle issues like development, clean water supply, and clean air for the populace, as well as ways to cleanse the Yamuna of pollution. ”

BJP’s Key Priorities: Ayushman Bharat, Clean Water

BJP MLAs reaffirmed that one of their chief aims is to implement the Ayushman Bharat health scheme, which was previously obstructed by the AAP government. The party has committed to launching the scheme in its first Cabinet meeting.

Sirsa highlighted that the administration’s primary focuses for the first 100 days will include clean drinking water, sanitation, and tackling air and Yamuna pollution.

Six-time MLA Mohan Singh Bisht confirmed that the new chief minister will be selected from among the 48 BJP legislators.

Additionally, Mustafabad MLA Mohan Singh Bisht reiterated his proposal to rename the minority-dominated area to “Shiv Vihar” or “Shiv Puri. ” He remarked, “There are roughly 42 percent individuals from one community (minorities) and 58 percent individuals (Hindus). . . Therefore, the public sentiment must be honored. ”

Bisht also assured that actions will be implemented to alleviate pollution in the Yamuna by setting up sewage treatment plants (STPs) to manage the 28 major drains flowing into the river.
