Delhi is preparing for one of the most critical elections, as the voters here will be determining the next Union Territory leader. The battle between the incumbent Aam Aadmi Party and the Opposition BJP has been at a feverish pitch, and the national capital’s political destiny will unfold on Wednesday. To ensure a seamless and safe voting process, over 40,000 Delhi Police men along with over 220 security force companies have been put in place.

42,000 Cops, 660 Flying Squads

To ensure a secure environment, over 42,000 Delhi police officers will be on duty, backed by 150 companies of the Central Armed Police Force and seventy companies from armed forces across 10 states. The police have been stationed at 43 major border posts and more than 100 smaller ones, maintaining strict vigilance. Additionally, a static surveillance team is monitoring election-related activities leading up to the voting day.

Neighboring states are also working on joint patrolling, and high-risk polling booths will be paid that much more heed, including drone surveillance.

Special CP (Crime) and Election Cell In-charge Devesh Chandra Srivastava stated before PTI that all employees have pledged for an election process to be held absolutely free, fair, and peaceful. For the first time, AI technology is being used by the Delhi Police for election security. This will give Police and CRPF personnel real-time access to information from the Election Commission. More than 600 flying squads and paramilitary forces have been deployed. In addition, 30,000 people have been put on preventive action, and the police have cleared as many as 85% of non-bailable warrants pending.
