NEW DELHI, July 9: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired a high-level meeting in the national capital to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting was convened in the wake of a recent terror attack in Kathua, which resulted in the martyrdom of five Indian Army soldiers.
The meeting was attended by Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, and Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane. Sources indicate that the discussions were holistic, focusing on future security strategies for the region.
The terror attack in Kathua, which claimed the lives of five brave soldiers, underscored the urgency of the review. The attack is part of a troubling pattern of escalating violence in Jammu and Kashmir, necessitating a comprehensive response from the highest levels of the defense establishment.
This high-level meeting is a significant step towards reinforcing security measures and countering terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, while also addressing broader security concerns along India’s borders.
