Mizoram Dampa Bypoll Result 2025: The by-election for the Dampa (ST) Assembly Constituency in Mizoram, held on November 11, 2025, was necessitated by the death of the incumbent Mizo National Front (MNF) legislator, Lalrintluanga Sailo, in July 2025.
The polling saw a robust voter turnout of approximately 83.07% in the constituency, which is located in the Mamit district and is home to a diverse mix of Mizo, Chakma, and Bru voters.
This contest was highly significant for Mizoram's political landscape: it served as a key test for the ruling Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) ahead of upcoming local elections, while for the opposition MNF, winning the seat was crucial to maintain its strength and claim to the post of Leader of the Opposition.
The counting of votes, which will determine whether the ruling ZPM or the opposition MNF secures the strategically important seat, is scheduled to take place today, Friday, November 14, 2025.
Mizo National Front (MNF) leader Dr. R Lalhmingthanga won the Dampa by election 2025 with a margin of 562 votes.
The poll will be a critical test for major political parties such as MNF, ZPM , BJP and INC ahead of future state elections with 60.95% voter turnout.
The Dampa Assembly bye-election was scheduled for 11 November 2025 and the result announcement will declare on 14 November commencing at 8 a.m.
In the general election of 2023, MNF candidate Lalhmingthanga Sailo won the Dampa seat.
