Cyclone Dana Hits Odisha, CM Confirms Zero Casualties Due to Effective Disaster Management

Cyclone Dana made landfall in Odisha early Friday morning, bringing heavy rainfall and leading to safety measures that successfully achieved zero casualties in the region. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Manjhi confirmed the effective planning and execution of disaster management protocols, noting, “There has been no report of any casualty anywhere. We have achieved the target of zero casualty due to proper planning and execution.”

The Chief Minister stated that over 600,000 people were relocated to safer areas in preparation for the cyclone. Airport operations returned to normal, with the first flight landing at 9 AM. Roads are expected to be cleared by 1 PM today. The National Disaster Response Force was actively involved in restoring the area by uprooting trees in Dhamra.

Rail and Train Services

Indian Railways confirmed that train services will operate on schedule, with exceptions for previously canceled routes due to the cyclone. Trains traveling from Visakhapatnam to Bhubaneswar and Howrah are running as usual, while trains from Kharagpur towards Visakhapatnam will be received at Bhadrak Station. Scheduled trains from Bhubaneswar and Puri are set to commence after noon, barring any cancellations.

Weather Update

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the landfall process of Cyclone Dana has been completed, and the storm is expected to weaken into a deep depression within the next six hours. The cyclone, which was moving north-northwest at a speed of 10 km/h, was located near latitude 21.20° N and longitude 86.70° E at 8:30 AM IST, approximately 30 km northeast of Bhadrak.
