Noida Police Commissioner, Lakshmi Singh has suspended two police officials over a cover up of the viral Thar case, where it was seen that a man was run over by a Mahindra Thar and sent flying into the side of the road following a social media feud.
Through an official written statement, the Noida Police Department has suspended SHO of Sector 24 Noida, Shyambabu Shukla and Jagmohan Singh, the OIC of Gijhore. The statement read, “On June 2, an incident of quarrel and brawl between two parties under the jurisdiction of Sector-24 police station went viral on social media. Despite knowing about the incident, the Sector-24 police station in-charge inspector Shyambabu Shukla hid the incident from the higher authorities and did not make any meaningful efforts to arrest the accused,”
“This act is a reflection of arbitrariness, negligence and indiscipline towards one’s duties and responsibilities. Taking cognizance of the incident, the Police Commissioner of Gautam Buddh Nagar has suspended the SHO and outpost (Chowki) in-charge with immediate effect. The concerned officials have been directed for departmental inquiry.” The police department added

Viral Thar Hit-and-Run: What Triggered the Attack?
A minor Instagram spat turned into a violent road rage attack in Sector 53 when two brothers, Saurabh and Sumit Yadav, were ambushed by a mob of 15–20 men led by Akash Awana. The altercation stemmed from a comment Akash made about a female friend of Ayush, a close associate of the victims. Expecting a verbal discussion, the Yadavs arrived at the meeting spot, only to be brutally attacked. The violence escalated when the assailants attempted to run them over with a Mahindra Thar SUV. Police are investigating, and a search is underway for the suspects involved.
The Noida traffic police has tracked down the Thar used in the viral video and subsequently issued a fine of ₹68,500 on the assailent who the police are actively trying to locate.
