Congress Slams Govt After Minister Writes to UPSC Chairman to Withdraw Lateral Entry Appointments

Soon after Department of Personnel and Training Jitendra Singh wrote to UPSC Chairman on canceling the Lateral Entry advertisement as per directions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Congress hit back at government saying a letter from Minister to a Constitutional authority without a date and dubbed it as what pathetic governance this is.

The party also said that this step has been taken after severe criticism of the LoPs of both the Houses — Malllikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi.

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh, who is also party’s communications in-charge in a post on X hit back at the government and said, “A letter from a Union Minister working under a non-biological Prime Minister to a Constitutional authority without a date. What pathetic governance this is.”

In another tweet, he said, “Even so, this is clearly the impact of the criticism of the Leaders of the Opposition in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and others.”

Even Deputy Leader in Lok Sabha Gaurav Gogoi slammed the government and said, “Thank you Rahul Gandhi for persistently defending the cause of the Dalits, Aadivasi and OBCs. India is on a path towards dignity for all because of your steadfast commitment towards social justice and the Indian constitution.”

Congress whip in Lok Sabha Manickam Tagore also took a swipe at the government and said, “2024 has given us two outcomes: a weak Prime Minister and a strong People’s Leader of the Opposition. In the end, it’s a victory for our Constitution. Jai Hind, Jai Constitution.”

The remarks from the Congress leaders came soon after Singh wrote to UPSC Chairman on canceling the Lateral Entry advertisement as per directions of PM Modi. Congress has severely criticised the move with party chief Mallikarjun Kharge and LoP Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi hitting back at government accusing it of trying to end the reservation for SC, ST and OBCs.
