Cong Will Sweep Polls, Says Rahul

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led Central government on the second day of his Haryana Vijay Sankalp Yatra, accusing the Union government working for a handful of billionaires in the country, overlooking the poor and the Dalits. Addressing massive crowds in Sonipat and Bahadurgarh, Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of serving the interests of a few billionaires while ignoring the needs of the poor, Dalits, and farmers, declaring that Congress will form a government in Haryana that represents the “36 biradaris” (communities).

During his rally in Sonipat, Rahul Gandhi boldly proclaimed that a “storm of Congress” was sweeping through Haryana and that the new government under Congress would be one of justice and equality. He promised that the state’s two lakh vacant government posts would be filled with fairness, ensuring that youth from all 36 communities in the state would benefit.

Gandhi also targeted the internal dynamics within the Congress party, acknowledging occasional disputes among party workers. Referring to his party members as “tigers,” he said it was his responsibility to unite them, emphasising that the Congress is fearless in its fight for justice.

The Congress MP criticized the BJP, accusing it of undermining the Indian Constitution, a safeguard for equality and justice. Gandhi highlighted how the BJP government, under Narendra Modi, was systematically working for the benefit of only a handful of billionaires. He cited examples of how the government waived enormous loans for industrialists like Adani, while farmers and ordinary citizens struggled with debt. “The BJP is trying to destroy the Constitution. Every benefit the Dalits, backward classes, and the poor have received is because of it.

But today, Narendra Modi is attacking it by helping a few billionaires,” Gandhi remarked. He assured that Congress leaders would lay down their lives, if needed, to protect the Constitution. Rahul Gandhi painted a bleak picture of Haryana under BJP rule, asserting that employment opportunities had vanished, small businesses were shuttered, and public sector factories were being privatized. He condemned the controversial Agnipath scheme, which he claimed was introduced to deprive Indian soldiers of their pensions, canteen facilities, and martyr status. He called the policy a method to “steal” from Indian soldiers.
Gandhi’s sharpest critique came when he took on the ostentatious display of wealth by India’s top billionaires. Referring to the lavish wedding of Mukesh Ambani’s son, Anant Ambani, Gandhi questioned the source of such opulence. “Ambani ji spent thousands of crores on his son’s wedding. Whose money is that? It is your money, taken from you through rising fuel prices, while you struggle to pay for basic necessities,” he said.
The Congress leader also highlighted Haryana’s growing problems under BJP governance, particularly skyrocketing unemployment and rising crime. Gandhi pointed
out that many young people in the state now receive extortion calls because they are desperate for money.
